Kelo-cote Formula Scar Gel - 15g

Kelo-cote Formula Scar Gel is a silicone gel for the management and prevention of scars. Kelo-cote can be used on scars resulting from trauma, surgery and burns. It can also be used on Keloids.

How long will it take for a scar to improve?

When using Kelo-cote, the recommended minimum treatment time is 60-90 days. Larger and older scars may take longer and continued use is recommended if improvement is still seen after the initial 90 days.

How do I properly use Kelo-cote?

  • Ensure that the affected area is clean and dryAplly Kelo-cote to the area as a very thing layer and allow to dry.
  • Apply Kelo-cote once daily, or twice daily to areas exposed to abrasion
  • For maximum effect, Kelo-cote Gel should have 24 hour contact with the skin
  • Once dry, Kelo-cote can be covered with pressure garments, sun block, or cosmetics

If Kelo-cote has not dried with 4-5 minutes, you have probably used too much. Gently remove the excess and allow the drying process to continue

On what types of scars is Kelo-cote effective?

Kelo-cote ® Advanced Formula Scar Gel is intended for the management of old and new hypertrophic and keloid scars resulting from general surgical procedures, trauma, wounds and burns. Kelo-cote has also been successfully used for atrophic scars/scars resulting from acne, chickenpox and stretchmarks. Kelo-cote ® is suitable for use on children and people with sensitive skin.

What is a keloid scar?

Keloid scars are thick, rounded, irregular clusters of scar tissue that extend beyond the original wound. Keloids may occur at any age, but tend to develop more readily in younger individuals and in darker-skinned people. They often appear red or darker in colour when compared with the surrounding skin. Keloids may not develop for many months after injury, and can worsen during pregnancy.

What is a hypertrophic scar?

Hypertrophic scars are usually red, thick and elevated and can be itchy or painful. The growth of hypertrophic scars is confined to the boundaries of the original wound, and usually develops in the weeks after the trauma (linear hypertrophic scar) or burn injury (widespread hypertrophic scar). These scars may improve naturally; the process can take up to a year or more.

Is Kelo-cote effective after laser resurfacing?

Kelo-cote has become the treatment of choice for post laser use and is especially effective in the reduction and elimination of erythema (redness) associated with dermatological laser procedures. Kelo-cote must not be used on broken skin.

Does Kelo-cote work on keloid and hypertrophic scars?

In several medical studies Kelo-cote has been proven to flatten, soften, smooth and dramatically improve the discoloration noted with these types of aggressive scars.

What are the advantages of using Kelo-cote gel instead of silicone sheets?

Kelo-cote has all the benefits of silicone sheets without the problems.  Tape allergies, difficulty of use, and the potential for bacteria growth between the sheet and the skin are all problems inherent with sheeting

Is Kelo-cote safe to use on children?

Yes, Kelo-cote is completely bio-compatible and is intended for the use for both, children and people with sensitive skin.

Are there any side effects associated with the use of Kelo-cote?

There have been no side effects observed with the proper use of Kelo-cote. The ingredients in Kelo-cote are completely compatible with human biology.

Does Kelo-cote have any odor associated with it?

No, Kelo-cote is 100% odor free.

Are there any restrictions on the use of Kelo-cote?

Kelo-cote is for external use only. Direct contact with eyes, mucous membranes, third degree burns and open wounds should be avoided. Kelo-cote should not be used on dermatological conditions that disrupt the integrity of the skin.

Is Kelo-cote an effective acne treatment?

Kelo-cote has been used effectively for the treatment of scars resulting from acne and chickenpox. However, Kelo-cote is not indicated for the use on active acne or broken skin.

How do I clean the affected area before re-applying Kelo-cote?

The Kelo-cote layer will dissipate as your skin cells naturally exfoliate, approximately in 24 hours.  If necessary, gently washing with soap and water should remove any remainder.  It is not necessary to remove the entire Kelo-cote layer prior to re-application.

Will Kelo-cote help heal older scars, or just new scars?

Kelo-cote can help heal older scars as well as newer scars.  Best results will occur when there is still healing taking place.  Signs of healing include redness, itching, irritation, and continuing growth of the scar.  If any of these signs are present, regardless of the age of the scar, Kelo-cote can improve the appearance of the scar.

Kelo-cote is used to prevent, reduce, help and treat keloid and hypertrophic scars resulting from general or cosmetic surgery scars, injury or burns, acne scars, and pregnancy stretch marks scars.

How to apply:

-For best results apply Kelo-cote scar gel twice daily (morning and evening) on clean dry skin for a duration of 60-90 days. Larger and older scars may take longer to see results and continued use is recommended if improvement is still seen after the initial 90 days.

-Once dry, Kelo-cote scar gel can be covered with pressure garments, sun block or cosmetics.

-Kelo-cote must not be used on broken skin.
